Running to Win the Prize

Here the Apostle Paul compares the Christian life to a race---a race that demands self-control and discipline and endurance. But many of us are meandering through it as if it were a walking tour. Others have determined that it is easier to be content to remain with the crowd of runners at the back of the pack, rather than to expend the energy required to actually attempt to WIN THE RACE. It is because the apostle was aware of the ongoing battle between the flesh and the spirit that he exhorted us to discipline our bodies and bring them into subjection.
