1. The Testing: Matthew 19:1-3

The Pharisees attempting to trap Jesus with the 2 different schools of thought. The school of the Shammaites interpreted the law rigidly while the Hillelites took a pragmatic approach.

2. The Teaching: Matthew 19:4-6

   a. Marriage is a divine institution.
   b. Marriage is a union. Two become one by God. Death befalls self for the purpose of union.
   c. Marriage is permanent. “Let no man separate.”
