Battling for the Reformation in France
Series Reformation Month 2009
Among the most courageous defenders of the Protestant Reformation were the Huguenots who sought to advance Gospel truth in France from 1515-1685. After King Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes and outlawed Protestantism in France, many Huguenots (300,000 by common estimates) fled the kingdom and took up residence elsewhere in Europe or across the ocean in the American colonies. They took with them a glorious heritage of faithfulness to the doctrines of the Gospel and love for the Scriptures. This message relates something of their story and the way in which they overcome powerful opposition to be faithful to Christ in their own generation.
