War A Sore Vengeance

War is one of the punishments by which God punishes his enemies. This, along with famine, the wild beast, and pestilence is a sore judgment from God.

Consider the Christians who are presently persecuted in many lands. Let your prayers fight earnestly for them. Give God no rest until he has settled peace within the walls of these embattled Jerusalems, and prosperity within their palaces.

Give thanks for the peace that we enjoy in this land. Though American troops are deployed elsewhere, there is no combat in our own streets. Old men and women are safe and children are playing in the streets of our towns. This is the blessing of God and the heritage we received from previous generations. Our generation is not called to win the peace, but simply to maintain it.

We also ought to exercise tenderness toward one another as Christians. Almost better to have war in our streets than in our churches. By uncivil contentions, fraudulent undermining, lying calumnies, and other manipulative endeavors we wage war on one another. This kind of behavior provokes God to draw his sword against our nation and churches.
