Persevere Knowing What's Coming
Series Revelation Series 2008
Why? Why? Why? If we don't know where we are going - what the end will be like - we flounder looking for something to give life meaning and purpose now. We really have no answers to the 'why' questions of life without a biblical understanding of where we are going and what the end will be like.
The book of Revelation puts present life in context. Everything that is done in living it out will come under God's judgment as everyone gives an account to their Creator.
John writes as one who is sharing in the trials and tribulations that God's people experience because of their relationship with Him, living amidst a world in rebellion against Him. The present suffering by God's people always serves a good purpose in refining and preparing us for living with Him in the kingdom to come.
John says the messages to the seven literal, local churches in existence in his time are messages for all the churches. The destiny, hope and future for the Church of Jesus Christ, comprised of all local churches since Acts 2, remains unchanged and unfolding as God moves His program ahead on His time schedule. The responsibility for the corporate local church and the individuals there in remains the same - persevere in faithful obedience to His revealed Word.
