New to Sovereign Grace Baptist Church?

If you're new to Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, I want to be the first to invite you to come worship with us. You're reading this page, so that means you're at least curious or wondering what we are about. This is our SermonAudio page, but we also have a website at www.sgbcbrunswick.com, where you can find even more information.

Let me just say, on behalf of the church, we are always excited to welcome new visitors. We do hope you will come and join us for one of our services as we assemble together, either on Sunday morning or on Tuesday evening.

Church is not about stained glass windows or padded pews. Although those things can be a great blessing, that's not what Jesus had in mind when He said, "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." (Matthew 16:18). We are His church and we sometimes meet in the "church building" we own at 226 Willow Drive Hortense Georgia, but often we meet in a home or even in one of the beautiful parks here in our area.  In fact, during the winter of 2025/2026, we are meeting in our pastor's house for our services.

Just as the church is not the building, and we do not need a building with a steeple to meet in, it's also a great truth that as individuals none of need to dress up to get God's approval. On any given service, including the Sunday morning service, you'll likely find our members dressing casually. Jeans are acceptable around here. In fact, it is rare that will you find me in a tie these days. You can wear a suit and tie if you want, but you won't be put to shame if you don't. Bottom line is this, we gather to worship and all glory goes to our Lord. Any good we have is in Christ alone.

Our congregational singing is a combination of the old hymns of the past, and some of the newer ones. We use the "Sing! Hymnal" which has been put together by Keith and Kristyn Getty, so we may lift our voices to songs like Amazing Grace and Speak, O Lord too. Our focus is not simply on what is old, but what is Biblical and theologically rich. He Will Hold Me Fast and I Am Not My Own might not have been in the older hymnals, but I can assure you if they were written earlier, they'd have been there!

I use the Legacy Standard Bible when preaching, but you are free to bring your favorite Bible version with you when you come. If you happen to need a Bible, we do have extras for you. Our pulpit ministry is devoted to preaching verse by verse through books of the Bible. Please click here to see a summary of what we believe.

We are an independent Baptist church and have no affiliation with any association or convention and we are not interested in any ecumenical movement either. However, that does not mean we are isolationists or tribal even. We have friendships and fellowship with many churches in the area, across this country, and around the world.  Our church is very welcoming, a combination of southern hospitality and a Christ-like love for others.

If you'd like more information than what is on our website, please give me a call or send me a text.  I'll be happy to talk to you. My number is 912-215-3144.

Yours in Christ,

David Green (Pastor)
