Teaching All Nations (Website coming soon, Lord willing)

The burden for Independent Baptist Institute began in 2007 while Bro. Botterbrodt served at a Bible distribution ministry. In addition to Bibles, missionaries expressed a need for Bible institute teaching to assist with the training of national pastors. An online institute was then established in 2009. Though the original website was later corrupted when it was removed from the server by the web host and no longer accessible, the desire to have a part in training pastors both in the US and in other nations has not diminished. After having the privilege of teaching in three local church Bible colleges over the years, the need for local church training was envisioned.

Teaching Others Also (link to audio message)

Matthew 28:19-20 gives us the Lord's plan for all nations.

  • Teaching the gospel to all nations.
  • Baptizing those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Teaching them to observe all things that the Lord has commanded. This includes discipleship and training for ministry.

Modern Methods Examined (Acts 19:8-10)

  1. For those who are saved, discipleship (if any) occurs in the local church.
  2. For those who have a desire for ministry, too often men and young people are sent off to mega church colleges rather than being equipped and trained for ministry at home. Future national pastors on foreign fields are too often sent to the United States for training. This pattern is not found in scripture.
  3. Future missionaries often go to four years of college (more if pursuing graduate degrees), travel thousands of miles for two to five years of deputation, prepare for the field with one or two years of language school, and then finally after ten years they reach their field of ministry. Acts 13-14 reveals a totally different plan.
  4. Pursuing college degrees is not found in scripture. Consider Galatians 2:4-6 and Job 32:21-22. The two passages giving the qualifications for pastors (I Timothy 3; Titus 1) do not mention anything about college degrees.

A Biblical Plan

  1. Prioritize faithful men who can teach others also (II Timothy 2:2)
  2. Older ladies teach the younger (Titus 2:3-5)
  3. Provide focused teaching and training for men as Jesus did with his twelve disciples.

The Purpose of Independent Baptist Institute

  • The purpose of this institute ministry is not to replace local churches and pastors.
  • IBI does not offer any degrees. Any recognition of accomplishments should be done within the local church.
  • Assist others by sharing what the Lord has taught from the Word of God.
