The Word of God reveals that man is not good. "There is none righteous, no not one." (Romans 3:10). There is none that does good." (Romans 3:12). But God is good according to Scripture; "He makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the just and the unjust." (Matthew 5:45). The greatest demonstration of God's goodness is the cross of Jesus Christ. God loved sinners so much that He planned a way to do good to those who did not deserve any good from God. God sent Jesus to earth to become a man and die a substitutionary death so sinners could be pardoned and forgiven for all their sins when they believe in Jesus for salvation. That's God's goodness. Would you sacrifice your only son to save a person who hated you and wanted to kill you? God is good. We are not!
If you are a born again Christian, you know God is good. Believers should be thankful for God's goodness. The Psalmist said, Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His mercy endures forever." (Psalm 107:1). Every good that we experience in life is from God according to James 1:17, "Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above...." Even the evil and unjust things that we experience are used by our good God and worked out for our good. (Romans 8:28).God is good!
Let all the saints continually praise God for His goodness and never doubt it. May God help us to proclaim the "good" news about a "good" God who sent His "good" Son to redeem "bad" people from the wrath to come.
