God is unique, set apart, eternal, and infinitely wise. There is none like God; He is the only true and living God. His ways are above our ways and His thoughts are above our thoughts. At the present time, we are limited in how much we can know God. The Bible says we see in a mirror dimly now but a day is coming when we shall know God as He knows us! (1 Corinthians 13:12). Because of our limitations, we don’t understand everything that happens to us in this life. But every believer can be assured that God has planned for him to be blessed in every circumstance.

The salvation of God for sinners is the greatest blessing any person could ever receive. In the eternal past, God chose unworthy sinners to be the objects of His love. He gave those He chose to His only Son as a love gift. The eternal Son of God came to earth to be incarnated and fulfill every requirement God demanded so that sinners could be made right with God. Jesus lived a sinless life and then died a substitutionary death on the cross. He paid the price for our sins by offering Himself as the only acceptable sacrifice for sinners. God punished His Son for our sins and raised Jesus on the third day to show that Jesus had satisfied all of God’s righteous demands.

Once God gives a person the blessing of salvation, He begins giving more blessings every day to the born again child of God. God wants to bless His children because He loves them so much. Christians often miss some of God’s blessings because they don’t understand how God blesses. Most of us think of God’s blessings as promotions, material gain, success. or happiness. How many believers think of trials, pain, sickness, suffering, and personal losses as blessings from God? Not too many! But our all-knowing God knows better than we do what is best for us and He arranges all our circumstances to produce in us a greater love for Him and a greater joy in praying, studying, and living godly in Christ Jesus. God blesses us every day with difficulties, problems, and impossible situations to help us look to Jesus and mature spiritually. If we view God’s blessings like this, we will be the most joyful and contented people in the world.

The world thinks it has blessings in wealth, prestige, the praise and admiration of men, and self-satisfaction. But we have counted these things as “refuse” compared to the excellency of the knowledge of Christ (Philippians 3:8). We are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). Before long, we will be in heaven where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. While we are here on earth, let’s count all God’s dealings with us as blessings and thank Him for everything He brings into our lives.

Love in Christ,
Pastor Dennis
