God Alone Changes Minds

It is God alone that changes minds. This is what the good, gracious, irresistible gifts of both faith and repentance are all about. These powerful gifts that God alone works in the elect to submit to Christ’s righteousness and reject our own self-righteous efforts and merit in every form. It is utterly impossible for a sinner to will himself into spiritual life and faith. He gives a completely brand new heart by grace. This work is of God.
We must give the unbelieving world the truth, in love. We, like them, were once in a position of deadness and darkness of unbelief. We are not on the believing side of the gospel because we are smarter than they are. Who made us to differ from the others? God’s sovereign grace alone made the difference from start to finish.
It took eternal love, unconditional election, the death of Christ Jesus, the regenerating and indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God. He alone has shown sovereign mercy toward us and let us never forget it. We pray God will continue to show us the glory of His Son in the salvation of ungodly sinners and make us see it more clearly every day as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Him.
