There are many different "levels" of living this life. Thank you Rick, for expounding how the Christian is to do so, by having its essence in, by, and for Christ. I shall today endeavor to learn/experience a little bit more just what that means as the Lord's providential provision is given me, moment by moment. Thank you, Rick, and many blessings to you!

It was a blessing to hear this preaching of His word. It is a blessing of God to see ourselves as sinners - still - even though saved by His grace. Still sinners. Such great love and mercy shown by God is truly mind boggling. God must show us how horrific we are, and He will. How grateful are the elect to God for loving and saving us?

great message for the true elect of God - pointing us to Christ is essential. Yes, there must be evidence in our lives that we truly are born again. Seeing our sinfulness, being laid low, being made humble - this is the work of Christ in His elect. No pride, no self righteous attitude, no lording over others. There is a difference between being religious and being broken by God. Praise Him IF He has truly broken you. This was a blessing to hear

I was actually looking for a text of this to narrate. I was first told of Pierce's exposition in 1985 when I was in a conversation with the founders of the Chapel Library. They actually were correspondents with A W Pink many years before and I was interested in anything I could learn. I have only narrated his book on Growth in Grace. What a wonderful sermon, so full of sound biblical truth that stirred me to appreciate anew my Saviour and Lord Jesus. Rare are the sermons that do not sidetrack into stories, jokes and humorous anecdotes cribbed from the Reader's Digest. Elder Rhodes had a set purpose and strove unwaveringly towards it, piling precious truth upon incontrovertible truth. The Scriptures tripping off his tongue testify of a man who dedicates time to Bible reading and memorization. This sermon blessed me this Lord's Day afternoon, and has spurred me on to study and know my Bible as well as Elder Rhodes so that I too can so ably contend for and share with the lost the hope that lies within me.
